Miguel Cabrera had an RBI in each of two separate at-bats during an eight-run third inning Thursday that lifted the Detroit Tigers to a 10-6 win over Oakland. The Tigers pounded out 17 hits, eight of them coming in the big inning. Detroit sent 13 men to the plate in the third, during which Cabrera drove in the first and last run of the frame. The first six batters in the inning reached base and Alex Avila keyed the outburst with a two-run double. Max Scherzer (2-3) benefited from the offensive show to get the win. He allowed two runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings while striking out nine. Bartolo Colon (3-3) was saddled with the loss after surrendering seven runs on nine hits in 2 1/3 innings. Detroit built a 10-2 lead before Oakland's Brandon Inge hit a grand slam homer in the eighth.
