Mike Aviles' two-out single in the ninth inning drove in Daniel Nava with the go-ahead run Tuesday, boosting the Boston Red Sox to a 2-1 win over Texas. After Rangers closer Joe Nathan (1-3) set down the first two batters to start the ninth in a 1-1 game, Nava and pinch-hitter Jarrod Saltalamacchia drew consecutive walks. Aviles then lashed a pitch just over leaping shortstop Elvis Andrus, knocking in the go-ahead run for the Red Sox, who went on to break a four-game losing streak and evened their three-game series. Vicente Padilla (4-0) earned the victory with a scoreless eighth inning. The Boston hurler hit Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre in the head with a pitch. Beltre walked off the field and medical tests revealed no apparent injury, the Rangers said. Alfredo Aceves secured the victory with his 21st save while Boston starter Clay Buchholz allowed only one run on four hits over seven frames. Martin Perez started for Texas and yielded one run on five hits over six innings. Josh Hamilton supplied the only RBI for the American League West-leading Rangers.
