Dan Uggla put Atlanta in front for good with a two-run single in the eighth Friday, lifting the Braves to an explosive 10-8 win over Milwaukee. Atlanta owned a five-run lead through five innings thanks to a six-run inning, but Milwaukee rallied on a two-run double by Corey Hart in the sixth and a three-run seventh finished off by Hart's solo homer. The Braves then regained the lead in the eighth against Francisco Rodriguez (0-1), who gave up a lead-off single to Martin Prado and then walked Freddie Freeman. After the runners moved up on a groundout by Brian McCann, Uggla hit the first pitch he saw to center. It was Uggla's third hit, one of which was a run-scoring double in the third. Atlanta opened a lead with its six-run fifth, which featured a three-run homer by McCann and a two-run shot by Matt Diaz. Chipper Jones sat out the game for Atlanta with swelling in his left knee. Jonny Venters (1-0) worked the eighth for the Braves, allowing a hit and striking out one to get the win. Craig Kimbrel came on in the ninth to collect his third save.
