Adam Eaton and Ryan Wheeler both tripled in a run Wednesday and both scored on San Diego miscues in helping Arizona down the Padres 6-2. Arizona won its third in a row to reach the .500 mark and stay with 4 1/2 games of St. Louis in the crowded race for the second National League wild card berth. Eaton's triple came in the fifth and scored John McDonald. Eaton then came home on a balk charged to San Diego starter Edinson Volquez (10-11). Wheeler drove in Miguel Montero in the eighth with his triple and then scored when the throw home by second baseman Logan Forsythe got away for an error. The victory went to Trevor Cahill (12-11), who gave up two runs on five hits in six innings.
