Frechwoman Marion Bartoli claimed her first Grand Slam title by beating Germany's Sabine Lisicki 6-1, 6-4 in the Wimbledon final here on Saturday. The 28-year-old, who lost to Lisicki in their last meeting here in the 2011 Wimbledon quarterfinals, took only 30 minutes to win the first set. Lisicki, leading Bartoli 3-1 in their four meetings and winning all their last three, seemed on a way to slumping in the second, trailing 1-5. But she hit back by storm, taking three sets in a row to close in on 4-5, reminding the crowd of her rally in the wins over defending champion Serena Williams and fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska. Bartoli, ranked 24th in the world and beaten finalist here in 2007, did not let the chance slip off her hands, regained control in her service game and sailed the the Venus Rosewater dish with an ace.
