Washington - UPI
Harrison Barnes and Reggie Bullock each scored 15 points Friday in helping No. 4 North Carolina roll to an 85-69 ACC Tournament win over Maryland. The Tar Heels (28-4) had a balanced attack Friday. In addition to Barnes and Bullock in double-figure scoring, James Michael McAdoo and Tyler Zeller each added 14 and Kendall Marshall had 13 points and 12 assists. They draw either Virginia or North Carolina State, who played later Friday, in the semifinals. No. 6 Duke was to face Virginia Tech and No. 17 Florida State was paired against Miami (Fla.) in Friday's late ACC quarterfinals. North Carolina was up 18-8 5 minutes into the game and, while the Terrapins pulled within 22-19, the Tar Heels got points from Zeller, Barnes and Bullock to pull away again. They led 36-26 at the half and, after two 3-point shots from Bullock and a dunk -- off a pass from Bullock -- by McAdoo were up by 18 2 minutes into the second half. Maryland (17-15) got 30 points from Terrell Stoglin, who was 5-of-11 from 3-point range. Others say they are less convinced. "It really has never been a treatment for alcoholism, and it probably would be very controversial to treat alcoholism with something that can potentially cause problems," Ihsan Salloum, a professor of psychiatry at the University of Miami, told ABC News.
