The inaugural American Grand Prix scheduled to take place at New Jersey next June has been postponed for a year, according to local news reports confirmed by Bernie Ecclestone. The race was due to take place on June 16, but is understood to be re-scheduled for 2014, according to a report in the Jersey Journal, due to rising doubts about the progress being made in preparing for the event. Formula One commercial ring-master Bernie Ecclestone told Eurosport: "It is not going to happen next year. "If they came up with the contract with us and we were satisfied the question is could they carry out the work in six months? Winter in New York is not good." Ecclestone said this now left a vacant slot in next year's 20-race calendar.
