Canberra - AFP

Australia's Jacqueline Freney won her fifth gold of the London Paralympics on Monday, capping off a day of triumph by shattering a world record in the relay. The 20-year-old, along with teammates Ellie Cole, Maddison Elliott and Katherine Downie, finished the 4x100m freestyle 34 point relay in a record 4min 20.39sec, with the United States claiming silver and Britain taking the bronze. It was a double victory for Australia after their men's team won the same event on Sunday. Freney, who has cerebral palsy, seized the S7 100m freestyle title earlier on Monday. She set a new world record in the SM7 200m individual relay on Sunday and won the S7 50m butterfly and S7 100m backstroke last week. The Australian adds the five golds to the three bronze medals she won at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008.
