
Algerian athlete Ahmed Saidia Kenzi has qualified for the 2000m steeple final by beating his own national record, on the fifth Summer Youth Olympic Games, Thursday, at Nanjing, Chine(August 16-28).
Ahmed Saidia ranked fourth in the qualifying race, clocking 5:41.73, beating his own records in 2000m steeple, which was 6:00.11.
Ethiopian Sidamo Wojini Sibisibi won the race by clocking 5:24:34.
"I'm very proud of my performance today as I smashed my own record in the 200m steeple and have ensured a booth in the final event, which augurs well for the rest of the competition," Saidia told APS.
"This result is the outcome of a long and hard work throughout the season. I will do mu utmost in the final on Monday.
