Bahrain International Circuit, 'The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East', announced today the launch of the much-anticipated 2011/2012 season of the Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship.The region's leading drag racing series is being organised by Bahrain Drag Racing Club, which is under the umbrella of the Bahrain Motor Federation, and in collaboration with Bahrain International Circuit.The season is scheduled to start with a 'Test and Tune' evening on Thursday, September 22. It will light up the circuit's quarter-mile drag strip from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.That will be followed by another 'Test and Tune' on October 13, which will help drivers prepare for the first races of the championship, scheduled to take place from October 19 to 21.Fayez Ramzy Fayez, Circuit Operation Director at Bahrain International Circuit, said that all systems are go for the new campaign to flag off. He added that all the drivers and their crews are looking forward to getting their cars on the strip, and that this season promises to be full of excitement, challenges and high-octane competition.For his part, Yasser Abdullah, Secretary at Bahrain Drag Racing Club, said that the new year will see plenty of participants hailing from Bahrain and all over the Gulf. He noted that from the first 'Test and Tune' event alone, fans will get a chance to see plenty of the championship's regular stars along with the many new faces who will be lining up at the start line, both in their suped-up cars and motorbikes.Abullah wished all the season's competitors the best of success. He is upbeat about the battles ahead and their importance in winning points throughout the championship, and for the drivers to put on a spectacular show for the thousands of Bahrain's drag racing fans.Media members wishing to cover the upcoming 'Test and Tune' may make use of Lounge number 11 on the Oasis Complex.For fans, tickets to the event cost 2 BD, while for children aged 3 to 15 years old, they cost only 1 BD.
