Colombian centre-back Mario Yepes has extended his AC Milan contract by a year, the club announced on Friday. Just after Gennaro Gattuso announced he was leaving Milan, the club said Yepes, 36, had agreed to stay on until the end of next season. Yepes joined Milan two years ago from Chievo. Before that he played for Paris Saint-Germain and Nantes in France after coming to Europe in 2002 from Argentine side River Plate. He won the Serie A title with Milan last season. He had also won titles with Deportivo Cali in his homeland and with River. Yepes has played more than 80 times for his country, scoring four goals.
