The Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has reiterated that the country should strive to be an all-round host for the prestigious staging of the 2012 Mondial-FAI World Parachuting Championships to be held in Dubai later this year. Chairing the second meeting of the Higher Organising Committee of the World Parachuting Championship 2012 Eng Mattar Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman, DSC, stressed that the Championship is an apt gauge to portray what the UAE stands for as a modern and fast-developing nation. "It is the desire of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman, Dubai Sports Council that we utilise this prestigious competition to highlight the achievements of the UAE in various spheres, including art, culture and heritage," Al Tayer said. He further urged the Higher Organising Committee to coordinate all systems so that the organisation of the championship will show the country in the right light on the international stage. Meanwhile, Shaikh Hamdan has approved the logo for the World Parachuting Championship. The logo has simplicity, beauty and is an integration of an entire country while also reflecting the essence of the championship. Logo The official logo and website will be unveiled to the public at a press conference later. The UAE is the first country in the region to host the 2012 Mondial — FAI World Parachuting Championships from November 20 to December 10. Organisers are expecting more than 1,000 competitors from across the globe. The committee also discussed the staging of the opening and closing concluding ceremonies, and Al Tayer oversaw the preparations for both events ensuring that the elements of heritage and development are included. Many experienced international companies have been invited to present their proposals for the staging of the opening and closing ceremonies.
