London - Arabstoday

Gazelec Ajaccio provided the shock result of today's early games in the Coupe de France last 32 with a 1-0 win over Toulouse. The Corsican side, promoted to the third tier Championnat National last season, scored the only goal early in the second half, Mickael Colloredo finding the net after being set up by Anthony Colinet. Louis Poggi hit the post but Toulouse's Mohamed Fofana was denied by a goal-line clearance and was then ruled offside when turning home Wissam Ben Yedder's shot late on. It was the second successive year Le Tefece had been eliminated at this stage of the competition by a team from the third tier, while Le Gaz maintained their three-year unbeaten record at the Stade Ange Casanova. Paris St Germain and Montpellier managed to avoid similar shocks in the evening fixtures. Carlo Ancelotti made a winning start to his tenure as coach of big-spending PSG but failed to make a sparkling impression in a gritty 2-1 win over Saint-Colomban Locmine. Playmaker Javier Pastore put PSG ahead in the 52nd minute before Abou Maiga levelled from the penalty spot. However, Uruguay captain Diego Lugano spared Ancelotti's blushes to secure the win in injury time. Montpellier, meanwhile, eased past AS Prix-les-Mezieres with a 4-0 win in which Remy Cabella scored two first-half goals. Lyon cruised also as they beat local minnows Lyon Duchere 3-1. Lisandro Lopez settled the visitors' nerves early on with a fourth-minute goal en route to a first-half hat-trick, Rafik Bouderbal striking a consolation for the home side reason shortly before the interval. Evian made it past Ligue 2 Metz on penalties after coming from two goals down in a dramatic extra-time period. The game was goalless at 90 minutes but Mahamane Traore's double looked to have sent the second-tier side into the last 16. But Cedric Cambon and Yannick Sagbo hauled the Ligue 1 side level and they prevailed in the shootout after Oumar Pouye blazed Metz's third penalty over. Istres won 4-1 at Thiers thanks to a hat-trick from Nassim Akrour.
