Luis Tejada scored twice as Toluca went two points clear at the top of the Mexican Apertura with a 4-1 home win over Queretaro on Wednesday. The Panamanian opened the scoring after four minutes and also netted just before half-time to give Toluca a 3-1 cushion. Gonzalo Pineda had brought Queretaro briefly level but the league's bottom side went behind when Sinha scored in the 43rd minute and Tejada's second killed off their challenge. Juan Carlos Cacho completed the emphatic win with Toluca's fourth goal after 77 minutes. Tijuana had been co-leaders but could only manage a 1-1 draw away to Monterrey, going ahead through Joshua Abrego in the 28th minute but conceding an equaliser, a Duvier Riascos own goal, in the second minute of the second half. Cruz Azul were the biggest winners of the night, 4-0 at home against Atlante thanks to goals from Mariano Pavone, Christian Gimenez, Javier Aquino and Israel Castro. Leon climbed to third place with a 2-1 home victory over Pumas. Eduardo Herrera put Pumas ahead in the 44th minute, but Leon levelled in first-half stoppage time through Carlos Pena and Nelson Maz grabbed a 65th-minute winner. Santos Laguna are fifth in the 18-team division after their 2-1 home success against Atlas. Atlas went ahead after one minute when Hector Mancilla tucked home a penalty, but the lead lasted only nine minutes, with Oribe Peralta levelling. Candido Ramirez put the hosts in front after 39 minutes, and the dismissal of Atlas midfielder Ricardo Bocanegra midway through the second half took the sting out of the away side. Lowly Puebla won for only the second time in 11 games, posting a 2-0 home victory over Pachuca thanks to goals from Isaac Romo and substitute Matias Alustiza. FIFA
