Luis Suarez was named in Liverpool's starting XI for Wednesday's League Cup third-round tie at Manchester United, as he prepared to make his comeback after a 10-game ban. The Uruguayan striker was suspended by the Football Association for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic on the arm during a league game at Anfield on April 21 and has not played for Liverpool competitively since. Having now served his ban, he was included in manager Brendan Rodgers's starting line-up alongside Daniel Sturridge in one of only two changes to the team beaten 1-0 by Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday. In contrast, United manager David Moyes made eight changes to the side crushed 4-1 by derby rivals Manchester City on Sunday. Rafael da Silva and Phil Jones both returned after injury, with goalkeeper David de Gea, Chris Smalling and Wayne Rooney the only players to retain their places. Rooney, who was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea during the close season, was handed the captain's armband. United and Liverpool have met on 188 previous occasions, with Liverpool winning the last encounter 1-0 in the league on September 1. Source: AFP
