Jerry Bengtson produced the only goal Sunday, giving Honduras a 1-0 win that will send Spain's soccer team to an early and humiliating exit from the Olympics. The Spanish have won the last two European Championships and captured the 2010 World Cup. Olympic rosters are limited to players no older than 23, but Spain was still the decided favorite to win the gold medal. Instead, Spain failed to score in either of its opening two group games against Japan and Honduras. Even if they defeat Morocco in their last group game, the Spanish cannot advance to the knockout round. Bengtson's goal came 7 minutes into the game and Honduras then fought off a relentless and unproductive Spanish attack. Three Spain shots in the second half hit either the crossbar or post. Honduras will reach the quarterfinals if it can tie or win against Japan in its last group contest. Japan clinched a quarterfinal berth with a 1-0 win over Morocco while Britain moved close to a spot in the knockout round by downing the United Arab Emirates 3-1. Britain scored twice in the last 30 minutes to avoid an upset. Brazil ensured it will advance from its group with a 3-1 decision over Belarus.
