Marco Rojas struck a second-half winner to spare Melbourne Victory's blushes after they had surrendered a 2-0 half-time lead at home to struggling Newcastle Jets. Hosts Melbourne looked to be cruising to victory following goals from Rojas and Archie Thompson but Newcastle stunned their hosts by storming back to level with second-half efforts from Ruben Zadkovich and Emile Heskey. However, Newcastle were level for barely 60 seconds before Rojas netted his second of the night to help Melbourne climb up to third spot in the A-League standings with a 3-2 win that consigned the Jets to a fifth defeat in seven matches.
