The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) celebrated the achievement of Mutaz Essa Barshim who has claimed the bronze medal of Men’s High Jump Event, on Thursday. The event was held at the QOC House (Bayt Qatar) with attendance of HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, The QOC Secretary General, Mr. Dahlan Al-Hamad, The IAAF Vice President and Mr. Mahmoud Ahmad Ali, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC). The ceremony began with an iftar Banquet then HE QOC Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani honoured Barhim for winning the second medal for Qatar at the 2012 Olympic Games. Moreover, Mr. Mahmoud Ahmad Ali, The EOC President handed over a commemorative shield to HE QOC Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani. Barshim again dedicated the medal to the Emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He also extended his appreciation to HE QOC Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and members of Qatar administrative delegation for their commendable efforts with him and his colleagues.
