Qatar Olympic Committee held a reception party at Bayt Qatar (the House of Qatar) in London on the sidelines of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Games ) in honor of Arab national Olympic federations’ delegations participating in the Olympic Games. The function was attended by HE the Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Saoud bin Abdurrahman Al Thani in addition to heads of delegations of Arab national Olympic committees, members of the Qatari delegation and the honoured Arabs athletes During the reception Arab winners of medals at London Olympics namely Qatar’s Nasser Al Attiyah who won the first bronze medal in skate competition, and Egyptian fencer Alaa Abul Qassem who won Egypt’s first silver medal. HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdurrahman Al Thani gave a speech in which he welcomed the guests and athletes Bayt Qatar, which is uniquely located at Savoy Place and overlooking the banks of the River Thames and home of all Arabs participating in the Olympic Games during the holy month of Ramadan. He praised the remarkable accomplishments achieved by the Arab athletes who won ”the Olympic glory”, Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiyah and fellow Egyptian Alaa Abul Qassem.
