Perth Glory today reached their first ever A-League Grand Final with a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over the Central Coast Mariners. Having come through every round of the play-offs, it was almost pre-determined that the West Coast side would do it the hard way and so it proved. Level at 1-1 after 120 minutes, Jacob Burns' spot-kick earned a 5-3 shoot-out win after Michael McGlinchey had missed for the Mariners. As a result, Perth will meet Brisbane in next weekend`s final, while Central Coast become just the second side to fail to reach it after finishing top of the table. They had taken the lead in normal time through Adam Kwasnik's 33rd-minute goal but, they were not allowed to build on it as Shane Smeltz levelled inside 60 seconds. It was the New Zealand international`s 17th goal of the season, a record for a Perth player.
