Paris - Arabstoday

Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo has admitted the club could sell striker Loic Remy during the January transfer window, but insisted no other players would be leaving this month. The 26-year-old Remy has been hampered by injuries this season, limiting him to just one goal, but is reportedly on Newcastle United's radar as they seek a replacement for Demba Ba after selling him to Chelsea. "Some English clubs are looking at our players and have not yet come knocking on the door," Anigo told L'Equipe. "It will come. "The only window of opportunity at the moment is for Loic Remy. If a big club comes for him and he is interested, we will see. But otherwise no-one will go. His succession of injuries has hampered him, and saw him miss the Euros. But I think he is back. I can see in training there is a renewed confidence. But if he left, we still have a strong attack with [Andre-Pierre] Gignac and Jordan Ayew. We are well armed." The only window of opportunity at the moment is for Loic Remy. If a big club comes for him and he is interested, we will see. Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo Meanwhile, Anigo has praised Joey Barton and suggested the Ligue 1 club would be interested in retaining the midfielder beyond his season-long loan from QPR. The 30-year-old Barton was sent out on loan by the London club in disgrace this summer following his red card shame at former club Manchester City on the final day of last season, which brought him a 12-match ban. But Barton has flourished in the south of France where, after being made to serve his ban and wait for a league debut, he has quickly become a key cog in a Marseille side in a three-way tie with Paris St Germain and Lyon at the top of Ligue 1. And Anigo insisted Barton's impact had come as no surprise to him. "He was described as an animal, but he is just the opposite. He is funny, intelligent, and he fights for victory," Anigo said. "We can see that the team has been lifted by his competitive spirit. He is now established as a leader in our group. He is very happy here, maybe he has found the right club for him. Should he desire (to stay) it could be very good. We have a very good relationship with his club QPR." From FIFA
