Lyon seek reaction at Toulouse in Ligue 1

Lyon have no time to brood on their League Cup final failure as Wednesday brings a taxing trip to Toulouse that threatens to end their hopes of a top-three finish in Ligue 1. Saturday night's extra-time defeat by Marseille at Stade de France was a painful one for Lyon, who were bidding to end a four-year trophy drought but who failed to muster a single shot on target in 120 minutes of play. A French Cup final date with third-tier Quevilly on April 28 means that OL may yet end the season with a piece of silverware, but before that there is the small matter of a Toulouse side who have lost just twice at home in the league all season. Remi Garde's side go into the game in fourth place, six points behind third-placed Lille, with Toulouse one of several sides bidding to chase them down. Victory for Alain Casanova's men would leave them level on points with Lyon with six games to play, further compromising OL's fading hopes of overhauling Lille to claim the final Champions League qualification berth."As I've said before, we've already digested disappointments this season and we've been able to overcome them," said Garde. "It will be difficult at Toulouse but I think that we'll have recovered enough to throw ourselves back into the championship." Lyon will be without the suspended Dejan Lovren after he was sent off in the dying stages of the League Cup final, while left-back Aly Cissokho is very doubtful with an adductor muscle concern. However, Yoann Gourcuff, who has not played since Lyon's Champions League elimination by APOEL in Nicosia on February 22 due to an adductor injury, could be named in the squad. Marseille's success over Lyon brought a sorry run of 12 games without victory to an end but, with a Europa League place now secure, they have little to play for in the league. But having gone 10 games without success in Ligue 1, Didier Deschamps' side find themselves only seven points above the relegation zone and they are eager to redress the situation at home to fourth-bottom Caen. "We have to do the job but we're not looking behind us, we're not calculating the number of points we need," said striker Loic Remy. "The teams behind us are winning at the moment but we're not talking about relegation or saving our skin, even if it's true that they're catching up behind us."
