Berlin - XINHUA

Ten men Leverkusen carved out a 3-2 win over Dusseldorf while Aaron Hunt's brace was enough to beat Mainz 2-1 to close the 10th round of Bundesliga on Sunday. The "Werkself" showed their superiority from the start against newly promoted Dusseldorf. It took 16 minutes for Leverkusen to open scoring, as Sidney Sam exploited an assist by Stefan Kieling to beat Dusseldorf goalkeeper Fabian Giefer with a lob from sixteen meters. Leverkusen controlled the proceeding on the pitch but Dusseldorf leveled the game through Nando Rafael, who headed home a corner for the equaliser five minutes before the break. Only one minute later, Leverkusen responded with the 2-1 lead by Andre Schuerrle, who utilised a rebound to slot home from five meters. At the 65th minute Leverkusen' s Simon Rolfes weakened his side when he was sent off with a straight red card, after two minutes on the pitch, following a rude foul. Nevertheless the host stretched their lead at the 66th minute when Gonzalo Castro used the build up play by Daniel Carvajal. Dusseldorf staged a dedicated performance as they reduced Leverkusen' s lead to 3-2 at the 86th minute following the long-range effort by Adam Bodzek. The visitors nearly leveled the score but Gerrit Wegkamp and Ken Ilsoe squandered golden scoring opportunities. Thus Leverkusen remains unbeaten whereas Dusseldorf suffered the fourth loss in row. "I' m very satisfied with the mentality of my team," Leverkusen coach Sascha Lewandowski said. Elsewhere, Bremen defeated wasteful Mainz 2-1 to wrap up the fourth win of the season. Bremen' s Aaron Hunt broke the deadlock with the first chance of the match. Mainz needed 64 minutes to level the score after they wasted a bunch of golden scoring opportunities. Adam Szalai headed home a cross by Radoslav Zabavnik to make it 1-1 on the scoreboards. Finally, Aaron Hunt curled home a dead ball over the wall, to score the 2-1 winner from twenty meters into the top right corner.
