Dutch giants Feyenoord have extended the deal of their coach Ronald Koeman until 2014, the club has announced. The former Dutch international defender - who memorably scored the goal that won Barcelona the first ever UEFA Champions League competition when they beat Sampdoria 1-0 at Wembley in 1992 - has been at the club since 2011. He was also named Dutch coach of the year last season. The 49-year-old has guided the 1970 European champions to fifth place in the Dutch top flight this season, despite being hindered by financial restrictions and they currently trail leaders FC Twente by just four points. Koeman had a glittering career as a player and was part of the UEFA 1988 European championship winning Dutch side, and also played at the 1990 and 1994 FIFA World Cups™ before moving into coaching. He finished his playing career with four Dutch titles as well as the European Cup with PSV Eindhoven in 1988 before adding four Spanish titles with Barcelona and the Champions League crown in 1992. His former clubs as a coach include Ajax where he led the team to the domestic double in 2002 before moving onto spells at Benfica, PSV Eindhoven, Valencia, Alkmaar and now Feyenoord. FIFA
