Eamon Zayed scored a hat-trick as Iranian side Persepolis jumped to the top of Group D in emphatic fashion with a 6-1 win over Al Shabab. Brazilian Ciel temporarily reduced the deficit to 3-1 with a 56th-minute strike but further goals from Gholamreza Rezaei, Ali Karimi from the penalty spot, and Amir Feshangchi wrapped up the win. The Iranian team's player appeared also stormy during the first half missing at least a dozen goal scoring opportunities. Also in Group D, Qatari side Al Gharafa staged a dramatic recovery when all seemed lost to claim a 3-3 draw against Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
