Former Germany international goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand has extended his contract with Schalke 04 until 2014, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Tuesday. The 33-year-old joined Schalke 04 as their third goalkeeper in October 2011 when he was without a club, and has played six Bundesliga games and five UEFA Europa League matches before picking up an elbow injury. His career has stalled since 2007 and winning the Bundesliga title with Stuttgart. He failed to break through at successive clubs - Spanish side Valencia, Sporting Lisbon and German club Hoffenheim. His last national call-up was in 2006. Schalke finished third in the league this season behind champions Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
