Tomer Hemed struck a hat-trick as Israel got their FIFA World Cup™ qualifying campaign up and running with an emphatic win on the road against Luxembourg. The Real Mallorca striker opened his account in the first half before adding two more after the break as Israel picked up their first victory after opening their Group F account with a draw in Azerbaijan before losing heavily at home to Russia last time out.Maharan Radi, Eden Ben Basat and Maor Melikson were also on target for the visitors. Luxembourg had a chance to restore some pride when they were awarded a penalty inside the final ten minutes when Dan Mori handled in the area but Daniel da Mota fired over the bar. Defeat leaves Luxembourg bottom of the pool and winless after three matches. Israel wasted no time taking the lead, with just four minutes on the clock when Gal Alberman picked out Radi - who found the bottom-right corner from 12 yards. Brest striker Ben Basat made it two in the 12th minute when he tucked home Melikson's pass from the left, while Hemed opened his account in the 27th minute when he turned in Yuval Spungin's cross and Melikson added another simple finish from six yards on the hour. Hemed's low left-footed strike made it five in the 73rd minute and the in-form striker, who has already scored five times for Mallorca just seven games into the Primera Division season, completed his treble with a header from Ben Basat's cross in injury time.
