Sweden international Johan Elmander struck twice as Galatasaray thrashed ten-man Karabukspor 5-1 to open up a seven-point lead at the Super Lig summit. Goals from Milan Baros and Elmander put Galatasaray 2-0 up at half-time and Felipe Melo added a third from the penalty spot in the 48th minute after Larrys Mabiala had been sent off for the visitors. Despite going down to ten men, Karabukspor pulled a goal back in the 66th minute through Mustafa Sarp, but within two minutes of that Gala had restored their three-goal advantage through Elmander before Engin Baytar added a fifth late on. In the day's other game, Genclerbirligi beat Eskisehirspor 2-1 to climb above their opponents into fourth place. Herve Tum put Genclerbirligi ahead in the 23rd minute and, although Dede equalised just two minutes later, the hosts took the spoils thanks to Oktay Delibalta's 54th-minute winner.
