Berlin - Arabstoday

Eintracht Frankfurt's return to the Bundesliga continued in fine fashion as they made it four wins from four at the start of their first season back with a 2-1 victory over Nurnberg on Friday evening. Erwin Hoffer gave Armin Veh's side the lead in the 25th minute and a Takashi Inui strike on the hour mark gave them control of the match. Sebastian Polter provided hope for Nurnberg with his goal in the 76th minute, but Frankfurt held on to move a step closer to matching their local rivals Mainz's record-equalling best start to a season of seven wins from two years ago. Both teams went into the game with unbeaten records to defend and there was plenty of confidence among the players. Tomas Pekhart tested Kevin Trapp early on with a dangerous header which the Frankfurt goalkeeper managed to push around the post. A repeat from Pekhart minutes later caused less danger to Trapp, who also punched Hiroshi Kiyotake's direct free-kick away as the home side started brightly. Veh was forced into a change after only 20 minutes when Olivier Occean left the field injured, being replaced by Hoffer. And one of Hoffer's first interventions was to put Frankfurt ahead. He was on hand to send a low shot into the far corner after Nurnberg failed to clear their lines from a corner. The goal gave Frankfurt confidence, but the next big chance came at the other end where Kiyotake's shot was pushed against the post by Trapp. The Japanese forward was Nurnberg's most dangerous player, but it was his compatriot Inui who stole his thunder and grabbed a second goal for Frankfurt on the hour. He cut in from the left wing and picked his spot in the far corner from the edge of the penalty area. Nurnberg pulled a goal back, with Kiyotake's endeavour finally rewarded as Polter headed in his free-kick. Frankfurt reverted to defending their slim advantage with Kiyotake continuing to make a nuisance of himself. Polter then missed Nurnberg's best chance to level in the first minute of stoppage time, when his shot just missed the far post as he slid in to meet Timo Gebhart's low cross. FIFA
