Earthquakes march on, Seattle held

San Jose Earthquakes went eight points clear at the top of the MLS Western Conference after a 2-0 win at Chivas USA. There was to be no shock result in the top versus bottom clash, with Chris Wondolowski's penalty five minutes before the interval putting the Earthquakes on their way to the three points. Alan Gordon's 49th-minute strike wrapped up the victory as San Jose extended their margin over second placed Seattle, who could only draw 1-1 at Portland Timbers.
