Defensor Sporting got their Copa Libertadores campaign off to a winning start as they beat Deportivo Quito 2-0 on Tuesday. Brahian Aleman put them ahead with a first-half penalty and Maximiliano Callorda wrapped things up with 12 minutes left. "It was a must-win game for us," Callorda told Fox Sports. "We did our best on the field. We were not the worst team after we lost to Velez and we are not the best now that we beat Deportivo Quito. We must keep fighting." In Venezuela, six-time Libertadores champions Boca Juniors failed to win as they were expected to, drawing 0-0 with Zamora in Group Four. The Argentinian giants, the reigning champions of the local league, came the closest when Santiago Silva hit the post. Zamora were the happier of the sides and defender Jaime Bustamante said: "This point is good as we are starting the dream of qualifying to the next round. We thought Boca were going to be tough. We tried to play them as good as possible. We are happy for our defensive job." His coach, Julio Falcioni, endorsed his defensive work, adding: "They did not let Boca play. We thought they were going to play better football, but they did their job. They got what they wanted - a 0-0 draw." In Colombia, giants Atletico Nacional claimed a 2-0 home win over Universidad de Chile, who won the Copa Sudamericana two months ago. Juan David Valencia put the hosts ahead in the 28th minute before Dorlan Pabon consolidated the win with a right-foot strike with 10 minutes remaining.
