FC Dallas began their Major League Soccer campaign with a 2-1 triumph over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. Zach Lloyd opened the scoring with a neat left-footed finish in the 11th minute and Ricardo Villar doubled the hosts' advantage just after the hour at FC Dallas Stadium. Substitute Kenny Cooper halved the deficit 12 minutes from time with his first goal for New York, from Thierry Henry's assist, but there was no way back for the Red Bulls. Elsewhere, Andre Hainault's last-gasp strike earned the Houston Dynamo a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center. Hainault lashed home the game's only goal two minutes into stoppage time to snap the Dynamo's five-game winless streak on the opening weekend of the season.
