Moscow - Arabstoday

Three-time Russian champions CSKA Moscow battled from a goal down to win 2-1 at Terek Grozny on Sunday to go top of the Russian league. Big spenders Anzhi Makhachkala, who led going into the weekend, failed to extend their six-match winning streak, suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of two-time champions Rubin Kazan. CSKA have collected 30 points from 13 matches to stand one point ahead of Anzhi. Defending champions Zenit St Petersburg are third on 27 points. It's always tough to play at Grozny. CSKA boss Leonid Slutsky Hosts Terek got off to a lively start, taking the lead in the eighth minute through Brazilian striker Ailton Almeida, who scored from the edge of the six-yard box despite the close presence of CSKA defender Sergei Ignashevich. CSKA's Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda pulled his side level in the 25th minute, firing home from 12 metres following Georgy Shchennikov's cross from the left. Swedish midfielder Pontus Wernbloom netted the Red Army side's winning goal with two minutes to go, heading in from close range following compatriot Rasmus Elm's well-hit free-kick. "It was a very difficult match," CSKA manager Leonid Slutsky said afterwards. "It's always tough to play at Grozny. This year, Terek have become very strong opponents. Luckily, we were more focused in the late stages and managed to grab a very important win." Rubin and Dynamo win slim Rubin came into their match with Anzhi fully focused and they took an early lead through defender Oleg Kuzmin, who found the back of the net after taking a pass from Venezuelan forward Jose Rondon. Anzhi pulled level just five minutes later through Ivorian striker Lacina Traore, who sent home a rebound after Rubin goalie Sergei Ryzhikov deflected the initial shot from just inside the box. But in the 19th minute Rubin midfielder Alan Kasayev restored his side's lead with a precise shot from the edge of the area. After the break Anzhi, beaten in the UEFA Europa League at Liverpool in midweek and led by their Cameroonian skipper Samuel Eto'o, poured into attack seeking another equaliser, but Rubin defended well to retain their narrow lead. Meanwhile, Dynamo Moscow beat visitors Samara 1-0 to leapfrog them in the table. Russian international forward Alexander Kokorin was the hero, scoring Dynamo's winner in the 13th minute when he received Kevin Kuranyi's pass at the edge of the box before dribbling in to fire past Samara keeper Sergei Veremko.
