Club Brugge won 3-0 at city rivals Cercle in a rescheduled Jupiler Pro League encounter on Thursday. After the original derby clash was snowed off on 20 January, the teams finally locked horns with Club taking the lead through Oscar Duarte in the 44th minute. Cercle fought hard with local pride on the line and it took Club until second-half stoppage time to make the points safe as first Eidur Gudjohnsen and then Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe fired home. Victory takes Club up to fourth place, leapfrogging both Standard Liege and Lokeren, and secures their place among the six qualifiers for the end-of-season league title play-off. Rock-bottom Cercle have won just three matches this term and this reversal marked a 20th defeat in 28 games that dooms them to a relegation play-off with just two games of the regular season remaining.
