The secretariat to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has today notified The Canadian Soccer Association of a decision reached at the FIFA Disciplinary Committee meeting held on 20 November 2012 related to the player Olivier Occean from the “A” representative team. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided, following incidents that occurred in the Preliminary Competition match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ played between Canada and Cuba on 12 October 2012, that: · The player Olivier Occean is regarded as having breached art. 48 par. 1 lit. c of the FDC by committing an act of unsporting conduct and art. 57 of the FDC for displaying several acts of unsporting behaviour and using offensive language towards match officials in the scope of the match played between Canada and Cuba on 12 October 2012. · The player Olivier Occean is to be suspended for six (6) matches. The automatic match suspension has already been served during the Preliminary Competition match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™: Honduras v Canada, on 16 October 2012 · In view of the fact that the representative team of Canada did not qualify for the next round of the Preliminary Competition for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ played at CONCACAF level (“Round 4”), the remaining five match suspension is to be carried over and served during the representative team’s subsequent official matches, in accordance with art. 38 par. 2 a) of the FDC. · The player Olivier Occean is ordered to pay a fine to the amount of CHF 7,500 and costs of proceedings in the amount of CHF 1,000.
