Brazilian left-back Fabio Alves Macedo has signed a two-year contract to play for Sydney FC in Australia's A-League. Fabio, 27, a former Brazil under-20 international, was released by Melbourne Victory where he played 23 league games last season. New Sydney FC head coach Ian Crook believes the Brazilian's signing will boost his squad. "He's technically very good and good on the ball which fits into our possession-based game remit," Crook said. "He feels as though he has a point to prove, so he has a lot of hunger as well." Fabio is Crook's second signing this week after securing the services of former Iraq international Ali Abbas from the Newcastle Jets.
