Botafogo set early pace

A 3-2 win away to bottom club Coritiba on Sunday sees Botafogo as the early pacesetters in the Brazilian Campeonato. Lucas scored twice and Vitor Junior also netted for Botafogo, Lincoln and Michel Lucas Mendes on target for the home side. Atletico Mineiro lie third after a 1-0 win over Corinthians which saw both sides finish the game with 10 players. Danilinho scored for Atletico Mineiro who had Andre sent off with six minutes to go, while Corinthians' Fabio Santos was dismissed a minute earlier. Fluminese drew 2-2 at home to Figueirense despite having Wallace sent off four minutes before half-time. Marcos Junio gave the home side the lead before Caio and Pablo put the visitors in charge, only for Wagner to earn his side a share of the spoils. Andre Lima scored the only goal as Gremio beat Palmeiras 1-0 and Luis Fabiano scored for Sao Paulo in the 1-0 defeat of Bahia. The game between Santos and Sport Recife ended goalless.
