Arsenal Football Club will be releasing seven players at the end of their contracts on June 30. Professionals Manuel Almunia, George Brislen-Hall, Gavin Hoyte, Sean McDermott, Rhys Murphy, together with Scholars James Campbell and Jeffrey Monakana will all be released on July 1 and are therefore free to join other clubs from this point. From the departing players, Almunia and Hoyte both made first team appearances. Manuel Almunia made a total of 175 first team appearances since joining from Celta Vigo in July 2004, keeping an impressive 70 clean sheets. During his time with Arsenal, Almunia played in the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final and made a total of 109 Premier League appearances. Gavin Hoyte broke into the first team on four occasions, making his debut in the Carling Cup victory against Sheffield United in September 2008.
