Anigo criticises Marseille defence

Marseille interim coach Jose Anigo tried to stay positive after watching his side drop two valuable points as Toulouse forced a 2-2 draw at the Stade Velodrome. L'OM have recovered from a poor run of winter form to reach fifth place in the Ligue 1 table, and their new-found confidence saw them assert their dominance on home turf by beating Valenciennes 2-1 on Wednesday night. Goals from Dimitri Payet and Mathieu Valbuena sandwiched Wissam Ben Yedder's effort and set them on a course to defeat Toulouse by the same scoreline on Sunday, but Serge Aurier equalised on the hour mark. With sixth-placed Lyon losing at Rennes on Sunday night, Anigo was left to regret failing to create a four-point gap in the last Europa League spot, but he remained philosophical. He told Marseille's official website: "We produced some interesting moves in attack but we were betrayed by defensive mistakes, which hurt us, and again on set-pieces. "We have to react. We are lacking attention to detail. Given the other results this afternoon it's clear that we can either see the glass as half empty or the glass as half full. We've dropped two points at home but, despite the disappointment, we've still taken a point from our opponents. The disappointment of not winning takes precedence, though." Anigo's Toulouse counterpart Alain Casanova watched his team twice come from behind to secure the draw, with both goals coming from corners. Le Tefece are now unbeaten in their last four away games but a lack of goalscoring threat from open play has seen them struggle to finish teams off and pick up the points they need to leave the bottom half of the table. "L'OM are a team with real potential, especially in attack, but they have leaks in their defence," Casanova told www.tfc.info. "We knew set-pieces were a weak spot for Marseille.
