Christian Benitez netted a late winner as Club America withstood the dismissal of Raul Jimenez to defeat San Luis 2-1 in the Mexico Apertura on Tuesday. The visitors had been at their full complement of 11 players when Daniel Montenegro put them ahead with a terrific long-range strike in the 61st minute, and also when Luis Mendoza equalised with a header nine minutes later. Jimenez's dismissal in the 74th minute left them short, yet Benitez found himself in the right place to crash in from close range after 88 minutes. Victory lifted Club America to third in the table, five points behind early front-runners Toluca and Tijuana. Guadalajara were 2-1 winners against fellow mid-table outfit Tigres Monterrey, their goals coming from Rafael Marquez Lugo and Luis Angel Morales. Marquez Lugo headed in the first after 22 minutes and Morales made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute after hapless defending from the away side. Tigres narrowed the lead in the 78th minute when Alan Pulido nodded in from close range. FIFA
