Ajax have all but wrapped up the Eredivisie title with a 2-1 victory at FC Twente. Gregory van der Wiel scored the winner 12 minutes from time to leave the Amsterdammers six points clear at the top with two games to go. Ajax also have a 24-goal advantage over closest rivals Feyenoord, so not even two defeats should deny them the title. Theo Janssen's penalty put Ajax ahead in the 30th minute only for Leroy Fer to level after the break, but defeat ended Twente's slim title hopes. The visitors had the first chance as Janssen's shot from 25 yards was turned behind by goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov. At the other end Ola John outmuscled Van der Wiel and turned inside on to his left foot before firing a low shot which came back off the post. But Ajax went in front when Mihaylov gave away a penalty by bringing down Van der Wiel in the area. The goalkeeper was lucky to escape a red card, seeing yellow, but he could not keep out Janssen's spot-kick, which went into the bottom right corner. The visitors almost doubled their lead before the break, but Christian Eriksen's shot went just wide. Douglas brought a decent save from Kenneth Vermeer after the break as Twente sought an equaliser, and it arrived in the 72nd minute. The ball came to Fer following a corner from Nacer Chadli and he drilled it into the left corner. But Ajax won it six minutes later as Van der Wiel rifled home Lorenzo Ebecilio's ball in to take his side to the brink of the title.
