Ajax cruised into the semi-finals of the KNVB Beker this evening with a 4-0 win at Vitesse Arnhem. Danny Hoesen set the Eredivisie champions on their way with a seventh-minute opener and Lasse Schone gave the visitors breathing space just before the hour. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson was then introduced as a 75th-minute substitute, in place of the injured Siem de Jong, and notched a late brace to add gloss to the scoreline. His first came in the 81st minute when he followed up after Schone had missed a penalty, and the second arrived in the form of a header five minutes later. Sigthorsson's two goals marked the Icelandic international's return to competitive football for the first time since the striker went down with a shoulder injury in August. The result saw the Amsterdammers avenge Sunday's 3-2 Eredivisie loss against Fred Rutten's side, which ended their eight-match unbeaten run. Frank de Boer's team joined AZ Alkmaar, PEC Zwolle and holders PSV Eindhoven in the last four. From FIFA
