Minister Mohamed Aissa
Bejaia - Arab Today

Minister of Religious Affairs Mohamed Aissa said Thursday in Bejaia that Algerians "have no need to import new religious or cultural patterns," considering the soundness and genuineness of their own referents.
"Algerians have no need for other patterns," he said before the executives of the sector, met in a training session, explaining that their own referents are sound and genuine, as they are "inherited from their parents and erudite forefathers," who "have always advocated tolerance, love, conviviality and sharing."
To be immune to any religious drift or extremism, the minister said it was essential to return to the fundamentals of religion by reviving those referents, especially in their nationalist dimension, "putting faith at the service of the nation."
Aissa underlined the reforms launched by his department to achieve such goals.
He cited strengthening of training of imams and recruiting of new university graduates.
The minister also mentioned the measures taken by the ministry of Religious Affairs to organize mosque-related activities to allow it to play fully its institutional, spiritual and sociocultural role.
