Sculpture introduced by Emaar Properties Dubai - Arab Today Jaeyho Lee's Chorus draws inspiration from the flow, movement and rhythm of a group of people gathering in South Korea's Gwanghwamun Square. At a height of 15 metres, Jaeyho Lee's Chorus is the latest sculpture introduced by Emaar Properties in Downtown Dubai. Standing tall in front of Vida Downtown Dubai on Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Chorus has been sculpted using 3.4 tonnes of steel and 7.6 tonnes of wood. The sculpture essentially draws inspiration from the flow, movement and rhythm of a group of people gathering in one of the main districts in South Korea, the Gwanghwamun Square. Lee assembled the sculpture over five months, taking cues from the inherent dynamism of the people's coming together — which is an artistic homage to Downtown Dubai, too, where people from all over the world meet. Jaeyho Lee said: "I am honoured to present Chorus in Downtown Dubai, where people from all over the world gather. My work reflects the spirit of togetherness and the emotions behind this great assembly of cultures. Ultimately, it exudes a unique form of solidarity.” Primarily using wood, nails, steel and stone in his works, Lee aspires to create art that allows people to draw their own interpretations of what they see, while connecting their inferences to their emotions. Having spent his childhood in the neighbourhood of Haeinsa, Hapcheon in South Korea, Lee also uses natural material like branches and leaves when creating works with steel and stone. Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director, Emaar Properties, said: "One of the fast-evolving cultural hubs of the region, Downtown Dubai is enhancing the artistic identity of the city with compelling works of art by accomplished artists from around the world. Chorus is a perfect testament to the multicultural identity of Dubai and the community.” . Source: Khaleej Times
