Ashrafieh bid farewell in a solemn official and popular funeral its martyr son Elias Wardini who passed away in the heinous terrorist Istanbul attack on New Year Eve.
Funeral prayers for Mardini's soul were led by Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Beirut and its Suburbs Archbishop Elias Audi, aided by several priests, at Greek Orthodox Our Lady Church.
Minister of State for Combating Corruption Nichola Tueini attended the funeral representing President of the Republic Michel Aoun, Speaker of the House Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
In his delivered sermon, Archbishop Audeh eulogized the late martyr Wardini as a believer, saying that he believes that Wardini has not died because he loved Jesus Christ.
