Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit
Cairo - Arab Today

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit has condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that targeted the headquarters of the governor of Kandahar in Afghanistan Tuesday night, wounding the UAE ambassador to the country and killing five other UAE diplomats.

The AL stands by the UAE in the face of such cowardly terrorist acts, said Abul Gheit in a statement Wednesday.

Such heinous crimes reflect, yet again, the big threat posed by terrorism - this time targeting innocent civilians who were on a mission to implement humanitarian, educational and development projects in Afghanistan, Abul Gheit added.

He pressed for quick action to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The AL chief also called for intensifying international efforts to face the phenomenon of terrorism.
