Appeals Court.
Abu Dhabi - Egypt Today

A driver, who was fined Dh2,000 for transporting scrap materials without a licence, has filed an appeal against his conviction at the Appeals Court.
The man was convicted of illegally using a public transportation vehicle to collect scrap metals and dealing in scrap materials. According to court documents, the Asian man was caught carrying huge quantity of scrap metals, plastics and other materials on a vehicle that belonged to a government department. He was collecting the materials from different places to sell them off in Musaffah industrial area.
When he was spotted by the authorities, they asked him to present a licence allowing him to gather the scrap materials. But officials found out that he was doing the business illegally. The prosecutors charged him with wrongly using a public vehicle and dealing in scrap materials without permission. The Criminal Court of First Instance had ordered him to pay a fine of Dh2,000.
He told the judge that he didn't know the scrap owner and he followed the owner as per his direction. The owner sped away when the vehicle was stopped by the officials. The trial has been adjourned until June 30.
