Abu Dhabi drivers now able to contest Mawaqif parking fines
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Drivers caught parking illegally will be able to contest their fines to a Mawaqif grievance committee, it was announced on Sunday.
Parking tickets can be disputed within 15 days of being issued, according to the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport’s Integrated Transport Centre.
Drivers can visit one of Mawaqif’s customer care centres in the city, fill an appeal form and attach a copy of the parking ticket. The service is free.
Mohammed Hamad Al Muhairi, Mawaqif director, urged drivers to adhere with parking regulations and avoid obstructing traffic.
The appeal system follows the recent slashing of parking fines.
Fines for illegal parking in residential areas have been reduced from Dh500 to Dh200. In addition, cars will only be towed after four hours.
Fines for illegally parking in bus and taxi bays were also halved to Dh500, while the cost of occupying two parking spaces with a single vehicle was reduced from Dh300 to Dh200.
Some parking fines remain the same, including parking at spots designated for special needs and near fire lanes without an appropriate permit.
