A U.S. train traveling from Indianapolis to Chicago collided Tuesday with a semi-truck in its path along northwestern Indiana rail tracks, injuring at least 14 people aboard the train, police said.
An Indiana county sheriff said the collision occurred Tuesday morning when the northbound train struck a semi-truck that had crossed onto rail tracks running adjacent to a U.S. highway. He said the train split the truck in half but its driver was not injured.
The Sheriff said it is unclear why the truck was on the rural tracks. He said 14 people complaining of pain were taken to local hospitals after the collision. The truck driver was not among the injured, the Sheriff said.
