A soldier was killed in an attack by PKK militants on a military outpost on the Iraqi border, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement Thursday.
Four soldiers were wounded in the previous nights incident in Cukurca district, Hakkari province, but are not in a critical condition, the statement added. The attack happened when militants targeted the Geriktepe base, according to Anadolu Agency (AA).
A security official speaking said a group of PKK militants crossed the Iraq border to attack the base and opened fire after being detected.
